Britain’s Best Car Manufacturer 2020: Toyota
Autocar, recently named Toyota, Britain’s Best Car Manufacturer 2020. With a reputation for making cars that were reliable, but perhaps a little dull, the range has been invigorated, under the tutelage of President and CEO, Akio Toyoda. Toyota designers have been told “no more boring cars” and this is apparent in the current range, which includes Gazoo Racing versions, of its standard models.
The All New Toyota Yaris, is a prime example of the progress that has been made, in making the brand more exciting and appealing. It offers superb comfort, combined with breathless good looks. The Yaris also benefits from Toyota’s self-charging hybrid technology, which makes it more economical to run than a conventional petrol engine and kinder to the environment.
In September, Toyota Gazoo Racing earned a third consecutive, Le Mans 24 Hours win and Croatian, Ott Tänak, won the 2019, World Rally Championship, in the Toyota Yaris WRC. Incorporating knowledge and technology, from its WRC experience, Toyota have developed the All New GR Yaris, bringing motorsport technology and design, directly to the world of the road car.
The Autocar judges said, “Toyota has transformed itself, into a maker of exciting, enthusiast-focused cars, as well as dynamic, everyday models.”
“The impressive progress made by Toyota over the past decade has reached the point where it can be considered not only the world’s biggest car maker, but also the best.”
